STRHS-Lawrenceburg Names 2024 Mercy Award Winner
May 13, 2024
Southern Tennessee Regional Health System – Lawrenceburg recently announced that Mary Glass has been recognized as the hospital’s 2024 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of Lifepoint Health’s hospitals who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2002 to honor the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, Lifepoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a Lifepoint employee can receive.
“At STRHS- Lawrenceburg, we share Lifepoint’s commitment to making communities healthier, and we recognize this is supported by the good work and service of our employees on and off the job,” said Mike Howard, CEO of STRHS – Lawrenceburg. “We are extremely proud to recognize Mary Glass for her efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. She goes above and beyond each and every day to ensure that every person she encounters receives the highest level of care and compassion.”
As a 13 year veteran of our hospital, Mary began her career caring for patients in our Med Surg department and currently serves as our Education Supervisor. As stated by one of her nominations, “Mary wholeheartedly supports the hospital's initiatives to provide food and water to the unhoused population, contributing through donations and hands-on assistance in preparing meal packs for those in need. Most recently, during a water outage, Mary took it upon herself to organize, purchase, and distribute over 200 bottles of hand sanitizer and nearly 3000 bottles of water to students in need at local schools. Her actions exemplify a deep commitment to giving back and fostering a culture of care like no other."
Each hospital winner, including Glass, will be considered for Lifepoint’s 2024 companywide Mercy Award. The companywide winner will be announced this summer and honored during a ceremony in October, to which Glass and all hospital winners are invited to attend.
