STRHS Celebrates DAISY Award Winner Ana Learn

April 07, 2026

At Southern Tennessee Regional Health System, we know that nursing is much more than a profession—it is a calling. This month, we are proud to honor Ana Learn, RN, from our Med Surg unit, as our latest DAISY Award recipient.

The DAISY Award is an international recognition program designed to celebrate nurses who go above and beyond to provide extraordinary clinical care and compassionate leadership. For Ana, that compassion isn't just a part of the job; it’s the hallmark of her career.

Ana was nominated multiple times by patients, families, and her own colleagues. Those who work alongside her describe Ana as a nurse who embodies the "heart of nursing." Whether it’s her unwavering positive attitude, her creative approach to problem-solving, or the way she brings a sense of humanity to every hospital room she enters, Ana’s impact is felt by everyone she meets.

While her clinical expertise is top-tier, it is her ability to connect with patients on a soulful level that truly sets her apart.

One of the most moving nominations came from a family member who witnessed Ana’s care during a deeply difficult time. They shared:

"Thank you to Ana for providing compassion to my mom and me during my mom's final days. You treated her with dignity, tenderness, and genuine love. Nursing truly is a calling, and Ana's actions remind me of that."

It is moments like these—where clinical skill meets genuine love—that define the mission of STRHS. Ana doesn't just treat symptoms; she cares for people, ensuring that every patient feels seen, heard, and valued.

About the DAISY Award

The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. His family was so touched by the skillful and compassionate nursing care Patrick received that they created this unique way to say "thank you" to nurses everywhere.

Congratulations, Ana! We are so incredibly lucky to have you on our Med Surg team. Thank you for your dedication, your spirit, and for being a reminder to us all of the power of a caring heart.
