Susan Pike, RN, Receives the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses

July 13, 2026

At STRHS-Lawrenceburg, we believe that exceptional healthcare is about more than just medicine—it is about connection, compassion, and comfort. That is why we are incredibly proud to announce that Susan Pike, RN, from our Medical-Surgical (MedSurg) department, has been honored with the prestigious DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses!

The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that celebrates the super-human work nurses do for their patients and families every day. It shines a light on those who go above and beyond the call of duty to provide clinical excellence and deeply compassionate care.

Susan completely embodies this mission.

While our leadership team sees Susan's dedication shift after shift, the true impact of her work is best described by those she cares for. Recently, a patient’s family member shared a glowing nomination that perfectly captures the essence of Susan’s nursing practice:

"If I could have had Susan as our nurse everyday, I absolutely would have—and I would have taken her home with me if I could! She embodies what it means to deliver patient and family-centered care with excellence, empathy, and heart."

In the fast-paced environment of a MedSurg unit, balancing complex medical needs with emotional support is no small feat. Yet, Susan makes it look effortless, ensuring that not only the patients but also their loved ones feel seen, heard, and deeply cared for during challenging times.

The DAISY Award was created by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in 1999 from complications of an autoimmune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses during his illness inspired this unique way to thank nurses worldwide.

Susan joins a distinguished group of caregivers globally who represent the very best of the nursing profession.

Thank you, Susan, for your exceptional heart, your tireless hard work, and for being such a bright light for our patients and our entire STRHS family. We are so lucky to have you!
